In process project of monumental sculpture of Nicolas Guillen elaborated by Martha Jimenez

Camaguey- The artist Martha Jimenez Perez takes part in the commemorative sculptural project "Guillen a viva voz", where take part the subsidiary of the Higher Institute of Art, the headquarters of the UNEAC and the Office of the City Historian. The head of the project is Rebeca Buron and also prestigious Camagueyan intellectuals belong to this team.

This project has the main objective of incorporating a sculpture of the Camagueyan poet and writer Nicolas Guillen, in a walking position, with a sound ambience. The piece will be permanently located in Plazuela Juana del Castillo (or San Isidro).

It is a free sculpture, made natural size by the sculptress, painter and engraver Martha Jimenez, to incorporate it into the urban space. The project also includes an audio system which would amplify, on special occasions, texts by the poet in his own voice.

This action could generate multiple opportunities for the organization of cultural activities, taking as epicenter the sculpture of the National Poet of Cuba.

In addition, this sculpture and the identification of urban routes could generate tourism projects in the city, with the aim of touring the city along the paths used by Guillen, a leading figure of literary culture and the cultural institutional system in Cuba.
