Martha Jimenez deserved the Mayte Spinola Gold Medal 2019

Madrid- The Mayte Spinola Gold Medal 2019, in Sculpture, will be awarded to Martha Jimenez, for her artistic career. This prize, in its fifth edition, will be presented at the Casa Museo El Romeral, in Madrid, in February 2020. This award rewards the merits in the arts, sciences, sports and solidarity.

The prize was conceived in 2015 by Mayte Spinola, based on an idea by Pedro Sandoval, current director of the Pro Arte y Cultura Group. Sandoval suggested to Mayte the creation of a category award in Spain, which bears her name.

Linda de Sousa, multidisciplinary artist and exhibition coordinator of the group, took charge of the design of the medal, with the effigy of Mayte. Thus was born this award, which every year grows in number of winners and importance, and was given for the first time in 2016.

The winners are selected by a jury composed of several prominent members of the Pro Art and Culture Group, and its founder Mayte Spinola. Later, the prize is delivered, at the beginning of the following year, at the El Romeral House Museum, Madrid.

This award constitutes the most important private cultural and intellectual act in Madrid, attended by diverse and very prominent personalities from Spain and abroad.
